MAROM Paris

Marom Paris was created five years ago, and established its own programming team in 2009 since when it has raised its activity significantly. Its members are young French Jews in their 20ies and early 30ies, who are active in participating and organizing events related to Jewish heritage. The group interacts with the two Conservative synagogues of the French capital city: Adath Shalom & Dor Vador.

As the Masorti movement in France is only 20 years old, Marom participants have very different backgrounds : sephardic/ashkenazi, religious/secular, single/married, but they all share the wish to meet people of their age and explore their Jewish identity together along the values of masorti Judaism.

Marom Paris activities are planned to reflect the 7 pillars of the French Masorti movement:
1. Tradition and modernity (use your critical sense !)
2. Rigor and flexibility in the practice of the Torah's commandments (to us, the Law is essential but dynamic)
3. Study of Torah and freedom of conscience
4. Tolerance and solidarity
5. Jewish identity and humanism
6. Representation of women
7. Zionism

MAROM is an acronym for Merkaz Rouhani Ou-Masorti, which means in our interpretation the following:

- Merkaz (center): participate in our numerous activities: shabbat dinners, havdala cheese & wine, outings, cinema, conferences, debates, etc.

- Rouhani (spiritual): grow your Jewish identity in its different aspects: cultural, religious or communal (belonging to the Jewish people).

- Ou- (and): develop links with our tradition and with other youth organizations that share our values as Limoud, Coexister, J'OSE - and more

- Masorti: build a European Judaism, interacting with other Masorti communities  in France, in Europe and worldwide (skype havruta, trips, seminars - and more)
